Quilt squares #1-7

Daniel, Sam and I ventured out on Saturday afternoon to find the perfect quilt squares for us to put in the quilt. I am planning on posting photos of each quilt square as I receive them.

Square #1

If you look closely, this piece has Chinese characters on it; a tribute to her heritage.

Square #2

This is the piece that I chose. I was immediately drawn to it and didn't look any further!

Square #3

This piece was chosen by Daniel, I think he probably chose it because it didn't have any flowers on it.

Square #4

Surprise, surprise, guess who chose this one? Sam, the penguin fan!

Square #5

And then I had a funny moment, one of those slap on the face, kick in the gut, AHAA! moments...

Buried in the bottom of our closet, I tracked this piece down. It's possibly an "antique" or close to it. There is a bonnet pattern pinned to part of it, the pattern is a girls size 8...that would make it at least 30 years old! This piece is in honor of my Mom. She had chosen that fabric for me and now I can give a piece of it to my daughter! That's a neat thing.

Square #6

In honor of my Dad. He was a mechanic for John Deere and I'm sure that his blood ran green--he tried to instill that in Sam too and did a pretty good job of it!

Square # 7

Ok, I couldn't make up my mind between the John Deere fabrics. I tried to decide which my Dad would have chosen. Daniel didn't think he would have bought the pink one. After watching my Dad with Sam...I'm not so sure, I bought both.
