Anniversaries and Chinese Restaurants

Daniel and I celebrated our 13th Anniversary this week. When I told Sam that it was our anniversary, he was so excited and said "I want to take you out for dinner but I can't drive." So we let him "take us out" last evening. He suggested going to McDonald's but I told him that we would prefer to go someplace where we could sit down.

So then he thought that MCL would be a good choice. Granted, I love MCL as much as anybody, in fact, it's Sam's and my special place to go eat, just the two of us. I usually take him there on one of the last days of summer, it's a special mom and Sam thing. Daniel isn't crazy about MCL so it works out fine.

Well, we opted to eat at the Chinese Buffet in Pendleton. We've been there once before a while ago but at that time, we got Sam a Subway sandwich to take with us because we knew there was no way he was going to try Chinese. Last evening, we told him that we wanted him to try some Chinese food and he very willingly did. He especially liked the fried rice and everything else was "pretty good". Sam asked if this was the type of food we would be eating in China and we said for the most part, it would be like this and he seemed relieved somehow to know that mom and dad were going to eat "pretty good" food while they were away.

Of course, we made all over him and told him how proud we were of him. He really did a fantastic job!
